I've been involved in local fandom for many years (long before Buffy) and haven't heard of your organization before. Could you tell me a bit about Starry Nights? Are you from Toronto? I can't find any previous events under that name.

Hi redeem147,
Thanks for your question! We are a very new organization. This is out first big convention under this name, so unfortunately you won't find anything out there as the business is so new! At Starry Night Events (and being from Toronto) we saw that there wasn't anything out there at the moment in terms of specific genre conventions. Great conventions like Polaris and Fan Expo strive to be more well rounded to please everyone, (and I have personally attended both and enjoy them), but we wanted to give fans the experience of being at a convention more specific to their interests. Having been to many conventions in the UK that are run like this (specific to a show or genre), we saw the potential to have such an event here. Personally I enjoyed being at a convention where everyone was like me and interested in the same topic. With all events and actors being related to the one theme, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend so much more. We strive to give fans a great experience with our first convention, Whedon Fest. We are working hard to provide lots of great events (such as our Charity auction, Dessert Party, contests and more!) and guests. I hope that answers your question!

Just curious as to whether or not you've ever put on any events before, or if anyone in the organization has any experience doing so.

Thanks for your question, rockgoddes.
At Starry Night Events, we are a new company, but we are very excited to do this first convention. Please be assured that we intend this event to run, and have been planning this for almost a year. If you have any concerns, please see our terms and conditions on our ticket page, specially paragraph 1 which explains about event cancellation and ticket refunds.
Together at Starry Night Events we have many varying experiences in business, and have put forth a lot of effort towards this event. This is an exciting endeavour and together with you, we hope to grow bigger. We thank everyone for their support and hope to see you there!

So... the answer to Rockgoddess' question...the answer is... "no"? You guys haven't been involved in organizing anything like this before? Forgive the skeptiscm but there have been a ton of conventions/shows that are being cancelled just as fast as they're are being announced.... and there have been some conventions in the past where the organization has been less than desired. You're asking for a lot of coin to attend. Convince me why I should part with my money. (I really want to but...been burned a few times already).

We do not intend to burn anyone and are fans ourselves so we know how it is. Unfortunately we are being compared to past conventions that are not affiliated with our business. Like we have stated before, on our website we say that if it is cancelled, refunds will be given. We cannot convince anyone to part with their money, but all I can say is that this will be a fun and great event and we look forward to hopefully meeting all of you! As questions have been answered already, I feel the need to close this topic. Any further questions can be addressed to info@starrynightevents.com Thank-you.
